The Knox School’s Semper Ad Lucem Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) donated $1,600 worth of supplies including linens, cleaning products, food, toys, and necessities to the Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park, New York, on Monday, December 16, 2019. These supplies were purchased as a result of fundraising efforts conducted by Knox NHS students this Fall.

Donating toys and goods to families in need has become a holiday tradition for Knox NHS members. This year at Ronald McDonald House, students had the opportunity to tour the main common area, the academic bridge room where children receive tutoring, a family room and the “Mets Room” which was donated by the New York Mets. This experience gave students insight on what it is like for family members to live at the House while loved ones receive life-saving treatments. NHS Advisor Mrs. Donna Pergola reflected on the efforts of NHS, stating, “Our students realize that their contribution goes far deeper than just raising money and dropping off gifts. I am proud to see their dedication for helping children and families who are facing such challenging life-struggles.”
