English Teacher

The Knox School of Saint James, NY, a nonsectarian, independent college preparatory boarding and day school for grades six through twelve with a post- graduate year, is currently accepting applications for an English Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.

This position requires an educator who can effectively teach the following courses: English I: World Literature; English I Honors: Advanced World Literature (Pre AP) and College Freshmen Texts.

The chosen candidate will become a member of a dynamic academic team led by the Assistant Head of School and will be a self-driven educator who is passionate about teaching English and willing to work professionally with his or her colleagues and administrators as a team.

This individual is also energetic and articulate with excellent communication and organizational skills, and proven classroom-management abilities.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong content background in World Literature, writing, and other various areas of ELA, and will have at least two years of teaching experience with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in English. Preference will be given to those who have a Masters Degree.

Teachers at The Knox School are expected to coach up to two seasons of sports or facilitate 2 terms of an after school activity.

Math Department Chair and Math Teacher

The Knox School of Saint James, NY, a nonsectarian, independent college preparatory boarding and day school for grades six through twelve with a post- graduate year, is currently expanding its Math Department staff and is accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year in the following two areas: Math Department Chair and Math Teacher.

The Math Department Chair position requires an educator who is a master of Calculus, and can teach all levels from Pre-Calculus, to AP Calculus, in addition to Statistics and Geometry.

The Math Teacher position requires an educator who can teach all levels of Algebra, from Pre-Algebra to Algebra II/Trigonometry.

The chosen candidate will become a member of a dynamic academic team led by the Assistant Head of School and will be a self-driven educator who is passionate about teaching math and willing to work professionally with his or her colleagues and administrators as a team.

This individual is also energetic and articulate with excellent communication and organizational skills, and proven classroom-management abilities.

The ideal candidate will possess all of the attributes listed above, will have at least two years of teaching experience and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Preference will be given to those who have a Masters Degree.

Science Department Chair and Science Teacher

The Knox School of Saint James, NY, a nonsectarian, independent college preparatory boarding and day school for grades six through twelve with a post- graduate year, is currently expanding its Math Department staff and is accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year in the following two areas: Department Chair and Science Teacher.

The Science Department Chair position requires an educator who is a master of Physics or Biology, and who has expertise in all levels of their area of study.

The Science Teacher position requires an educator who has a focus on Biology and AP Biology or Physics.

The chosen candidate will become a member of a dynamic academic team led by the Assistant Head of School and will be a self-driven educator who is passionate about teaching science and willing to work professionally with his or her colleagues and administrators as a team.

This individual is also energetic and articulate with excellent communication and organizational skills, and proven classroom-management abilities.

The ideal candidate will possess all of the attributes listed above, will have at least two years of teaching experience and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Physics or Biology. Preference will be given to those who have a Masters Degree.

History Teacher

The Knox School of Saint James, NY, a nonsectarian, independent college preparatory boarding and day school for grades six through twelve with a post- graduate year, is currently accepting applications for History Teachers for the 2019-2020 school year.

This position requires an educator who can effectively teach both World and US History.

The chosen candidate will become a member of a dynamic academic team led by the Assistant Head of School and will be a self-driven educator who is passionate about teaching History and willing to work professionally with his or her colleagues and administrators as a team.

This individual is also energetic and articulate with excellent communication and organizational skills, and proven classroom-management abilities.

The ideal candidate will possess all of the attributes listed above and will have at least two years of teaching experience. Candidates who hold Master’s Degrees will be given preference.

The Knox School of Saint James, NY, a nonsectarian, independent college preparatory boarding and day school for grades six through twelve with a post- graduate year, is currently accepting applications for ENL for the 2019-2020 school year.

This position requires an educator who can effectively teach all levels of ENL from Emerging to Expanding II.

The chosen candidate will become a member of a dynamic academic team led by the Assistant Head of School and will be a self-driven educator who is passionate about teaching ENL and willing to work professionally with his or her colleagues and administrators as a team.

This individual is also energetic and articulate with excellent communication and organizational skills, and proven classroom-management abilities.

The ideal candidate will possess all of the attributes listed above and will have at least two years of teaching experience and will be TESOL certified.
