Community Service

Community service is the act of volunteering in the local community. Students can make a difference by giving time and skills to benefit others. Volunteering means giving of oneself without expecting anything in return, and can be linked to the Knox Core Values.

Knox students are required to volunteer a minimum of 5 hours for graduation. Ways in which students can earn community service hours include participating in local cancer walks, assisting in creating campus displays, and working with the local community for events such as St. James Day. Hours earned must be documented by the organization, stating the number of hours and the specific effort.

Individuals and smalls groups of Knox students have participated in major community service activities such as building houses for Habitat for Humanity, participating in or contributing to charitable sporting events such as marathons or walk/runs, building facilities for impoverished people and numerous other efforts throughout the world.
