Girls' Volleyball
The fall season of 2009 marked a great event for the Lady Falcons Volleyball team. Their entire season was played on the gym floor which was being renovated during the 2008 season. With only four returning players, the 2009 season was a struggling one, but the girls were still able to bring out a win.
This year’s award winners were:
- Most Improved Player – Nikki Perales
- Coaches Award – Tali Levin
Fitness and Conditioning
The Fitness and Conditioning program was introduced to Knox in the fall of 2006 after the renovation of the lower level of Bancroft Phinney Hall. The Fitness center features several different stations including two elliptical machines, a full set of free weights, and several stationary lifting machines. The program is offered all three seasons and is great for students during an off season to train. Fitness and Conditioning is also available during winter and spring.
Crew
The Knox Crew team rows each fall and spring when the weather is best. The fall season is often seen as the training season and the spring season a completive season. This year we purchased a new four man boat, and new oars. The team rows both their four man boats on Stony Brook Harbor daily.
Equestrian
The Equestrian program is one of the longest running programs on campus. It has a long history and many of our students continue to ride after they have graduated from Knox. Each spring all those students involved attend the Junior Olympics and compete amongst the best on Long Island. The program is offered during all three season, but does require a fee. Our Equestrian Program is also available in winter and spring. Please see our Equestrian page for a complete description of our Equestrian Program.
Cross Country
Cross Country at Knox returned in the fall of 2006 after a long hiatus. It has proven to be very beneficial for our students. Knox often produces exceptional runners. During the 2008 season, Jonathan Liddle placed in the top five in each meet he participated in. The 2008 and 2009 seasons have marked two of the largest groups of runners we have had since bringing the program back.
This year’s award winners were:
- Most Valuable Player – Jonathan Liddle
- Most Improved Player – Matthew Cohen

Girls Basketball
The 2009-2010 season marks the first full season for the Lady Falcons in over five years. Power shooter Jourdan Cinnante averages two three pointers a game, and has scored 121 points overall since the season started in November. With four games left in the 2009-2010 season, Jourdan may be able to hit 150 points. Seniors Jessie Thompson, Jenna Hardy, and Talia Pindeo have helped to lead the girls on and off the court. Olga Pesina continues to show her unbelievable defensive skills, while Rachael Fox has an undeniable ability to move the ball around the court. Morenike Aliy, Tali Levin, and Gabby Wessler add additional support and points.
Boys Basketball (JV and Varsity)
Boys interested in playing Basketball must go through a tryout to determine who will be on the Varsity and JV Team. Tryouts usually take place after school during the sports period over the course of two or three days depending on the coaches’ discretion. Due to scheduling and limited gym space, the teams often rotate with the Girls’ team during the afternoons – some afternoons they will attend study hall and have practice at night and vice versa. The basketball season is the longest season beginning in mid November and ending in early February.
