Campus Resources

Knox students have access to a wealth of resources on campus designed to support their academic, physical, and emotional growth. These resources create a supportive learning environment where they can take risks, challenge themselves to experience unfamiliar perspectives, and form long-lasting relationships with faculty, staff, and fellow students.

Meal options at Houghton Hall are plentiful. We offer hot options and a salad bar, and family-style dining is a weekly event. All meals are catered by CulinArt, and include nutritious options for all tastes and dietary restrictions. Even our pickiest eaters are full and happy.

Student Health Services

At Knox, the well-being and safety of our students is our number one priority. A Registered Nurse is on staff or on call seven days a week, and our Health and Wellness Center is home to a fully-equipped nursing office and a suite of private rooms where students can spend the night if they are deemed to be contagious or need overnight care. Our nursing staff transports students to and from medical appointments and is the health and wellness liaison to our families.

Social & Emotional Support

Adjusting to the demands of an independent school education, whether you are a boarding student or a day student, can be challenging not just for young middle schooler's, but for high school students as well. To assist with transitions and other social and emotional issues that are inevitable in the lives of our youth today, Knox students have access to off-campus mental health professionals, and regular opportunities to meet on-campus with our full-time social worker, Kathleen Treccagnoli.

To speak with Ms. Treccagnoli, please visit her office in the Library, or email: ktreccagnoli@knoxschool.org

Knox Student Commons

One of the main hubs of student life at Knox is the Student Commons, home of Senior Tuck, a school “snack shop” that is completely managed and operated by members of the senior class. During their down time and on weekends, students gather in this common area to play ping-pong or air hockey, watch movies on the big-screen television, engage in games of chess, or simply connect with their peers outside of the classrooms and dorms.

George K. Allison Fitness Center

The George K. Allison Fitness Center is a fully equipped workout room open to Knox students and staff and houses state-of-the-art free-motion equipment. The room also is home to a Body Solid Universal Workstation with 6 lifting units, free weights, dumbbells and body bars. With two Ultra spin-bikes and two Elypticals, there is something for everyone in the fitness center.

The Falcon's Nest

The Falcon’s Nest is a “one-stop-shop” where students can purchase school supplies, small toiletry items, Knox polos and other clothing, and snacks in between meals and Target trips. The Nest is conveniently located right outside Senior Tuck in the bottom of the gymnasium.

Excursions

Weekend excursions are for all students, not just those who live on campus. Trips to local hot-spots, shopping malls, New York City, cultural events and sometimes a simple “Target run,” are all part of weekend-living at The Knox School.

Athletic Facilities

Our 40 acre campus is home to an Equestrian Center that houses close to two dozen horses, 4 regulation-sized Tennis courts, a gymnasium with a full basketball court, a soccer field, baseball diamond and clay softball field, a cross-country track, and a waterfront where our Crew team launches to practice.

Supervised Study Hall

Each evening, students are required to participate in Supervised Study Hall during which they have the opportunity to use the library-media center, participate in small study groups, receive extra help from dorm parents and teachers and work in their dorm rooms to complete homework, projects and other assignments. Faculty on-duty monitor each study area to ensure students are using this valuable time responsibly and are available to assist students when necessary.
