Promoting Active, Healthy and Well-balanced Lifestyles

A Knox education stresses the importance of an active lifestyle, which is essential to long-term health and well-being. At Knox, we view athletics and physical exercise as essential building blocks of an active and well-balanced lifestyle.

Athletic activities offers the opportunity to push a body and mind to its limits, while developing valuable life skills involving teamwork, leadership, and good sportsmanship. Knox provides a full spectrum of interscholastic, intramural, and leisure sports activities, including baseball, basketball, crew, cross-country, equestrian, golf, lacrosse, soccer softball, tennis, and volleyball.

New Fitness Room at Knox

Our facilities include a newly renovated gym complete with a state-of-the-art fitness center, fitness equipment located within senior dorms, a dance studio, three athletic fields, four tennis courts, a cross-country trail, waterfront for crew and other water sports, and outdoor riding rings for our Equestrian Program.

The entire Knox community takes great pride in supporting its athletic teams, with each team victory proudly proclaimed by the traditional ringing of the Victory Bell. Winning is important, but at no time does competitive spirit take precedence over having fun, demonstrating teamwork, and practicing good sportsmanship.

The athletic program also supports the school’s central focus on maintaining active, healthy, and well-balanced lifestyles. In addition to interscholastic athletics, Knox provides access to a variety of recreational activities, from nature hikes to ice-skating, pick-up basketball and soccer games, as well as numerous other recreational and leisure-time activities.

The athletic curriculum at Knox is viewed as essential to a well-rounded education that stresses long-term wellness through active and healthy lifestyles featuring regular physical exercise, good nutrition, as well as proper sleep and study habits. The Knox athletics curriculum is also augmented by after-school and weekend leisure-time sports and recreational activities designed to help students identify lifetime sports interests, as teenagers need to spend less time watching television and playing video games, and more time on aerobic fitness as part of a daily regimen that promotes health and well-being
