The Knox School is pleased to announce that Senior Laurynas Stonkus has signed a National Letter of Intent accepting a full athletic scholarship to play basketball for New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), Old Westbury, in the Fall of 2017. A Shooting Guard on The Knox School’s National Preparatory Basketball Team, Laurynas is excited to study Architectural Engineering at NYIT, a field of study in which he can utilize his academic strengths in mathematics and creative skills in design and building construction.
Laurynas is an international student who was born and raised in Lithuania, living with his parents and younger brother in the small city of Salute. Prior to joining Knox in January 2016, Laurynas began his basketball career in sixth grade where he played on a low-level city team. By the age of 15, he was invited to practice with the professional team, and qualified for the Lithuanian National Team at 17 years of age.
In addition to being a star athlete at The Knox School, Laurynas is an accomplished scholar who has successfully maintained his place on the Honor Roll.The Knox School is extremely proud of the accomplishments of this rising star!
