Adina Raso is one of The Knox School’s newest faculty members, joining us this year as a 9th and 10th grade English teacher. Ms. Raso has already made a tremendous impact on her students and the English program in general with her dynamic lessons that incorporate literary analysis, grammar and of course, writing.
Ms. Raso holds BA and MAT degrees in English from SUNY Stony Brook in addition to a Graduate Certificate in Teaching Writing. She is extremely passionate about writing and text analysis and stresses literary analysis and the importance of making text-to-life connections, which keeps her students engaged and motivated. Her English class often mirrors a philosophy or ethics class ethics, with its lively discussions on character motivation, morality, and social dynamics. Ms. Raso enjoys seeing her students “living and breathing” literature, art and any form of information that is relevant to their lives.
In addition to her passion and enthusiasm for the written word, Ms. Raso is also extremely inspired by art and music. Not only has she played guitar and keyboard in rock bands, she is also an accomplished piano teacher. At times, you may even find her tickling the ivory keys at the grand piano in Houghton Hall, that is, if she in not painting on the grand campus lawn or practicing yoga.Thank you for all that you do, Ms. Raso, and for sharing your many talents with The Knox School community! You are appreciated!
